A Look Into Mobile Phone Marketing

Mobile phone marketing is the hottest marketing idea. Though it is the best and easiest of all the marketing system, it has some barriers that should be looked upon and rectified.

From the time of its invention, mobile phones have been a great tool for almost everything. In the case of marketing, it can be proved as the best tool for marketing. However, you cannot apply the same rules and concept as you use in web marketing. The below paragraphs will tell you what to do and what not to do.
Recently one of my friends asked me to teach him the concept of mobile marketing. Let us call him as John (the name has been changed for the sake of anonymity). John had spent more than 400$ on mobile marketing. Guess what? He got defeated. His 400$ just flew in the air without any profit. Even I was defeated once and then I researched and found something of interest.

My friend, John, did not make the basic research required. He had been receiving emails that promised loads of cash if he just invested in mobile marketing. Days after days he received those mails and later he gave into it. He started promoting Click Bank products. Actually, it was not a bad idea. The mistake he did was that he did not understand the restrictions mobile phones had.

Another most important factor was missed by my friend. Mobile users like to be charged through their mobile phone bills. They hardly like payment through any other mode as that is an extra work for them. Next is the size of the mobile phones. Generally, mobile phones have sizes that make typing hard. If you are promoting a product that requires your mobile phones users to type in their credit card number, then most of them will not buy it. The reason is simple. They hate typing on their small screens. This is the reason why the statistics show that 80% of products are abandoned.

Usually, I advise my clients to think in the terms of right hand. It is a well know fact that most of the mobile phone users use their right thumb to navigate. Therefore, it is common sense to promote your ads with the links and other important buttons to be placed on the right hand side of the screen.

Only if John had done his homework he would have understood that Europe is the best target for mobile phone marketing. This is due to the fact that Europeans have been using mobile phones for a long time due to the unavailability of landlines. European countries are excellent targets, especially UK and Germany. The amount of mobile phones has increased in these countries to such an amount that they have named it as “throw aways”

If my friend had looked into all these factors, he would have been successful in his campaign. By doing so, he would have realized the difference between web marketing and mobile phone marketing.

Below given are five steps that are essential steps that should be taken for a successful mobile marketing.

1) Make a clear goal – Decide the audience that you wish to choose and which products should go to which audience. Not all products are accepted by everyone.

2) Focus on your target – take into account the demographic location, age, sex and any other factor that would be helpful in determining the needs of your customer.

3) Finding the right product – Find out as to which product was successful in mobile marketing. Get hold of the platform and ad servers which were a success in the past. This will avoid any failure in your campaign.

4) Get the best ad serving platform – Ad serving are very essential if you want your marketing to be a success. You cannot count every ad serving platform as the best nor can you call every platform as the worst. Get an ad server after you had recognized the portals where your ads will be served.

5) Tracking – Setting up an ad might be easy. The hardest and most tiresome part is tracking it. It is good to track and record the history of your various products. This is to help you in finding out as to which demographic location or which type of customers like a certain product. This small information can go a long way in helping you.

Summary

If you compare internet marketing with mobile marketing it would be seen that mobile marketing is the best and more profitable one.
